For all those nature lovers the Camp Mahackeno of Westport Weston Y is organizing a summer camp in 2013 on a 62-acre wildlife sanctuary located at 10 Woodside Lane. For the first time since 1940 the venue is changed. Initially there were speculations that the Summer Camp in 2013 would be a distant dream as construction set to begin on the Westport Weston Y, this summer.
However, not to deprive of their loyal campers, Y decided to join hands with Earth Place to continue the camp. This year’s campers curriculum is specially designed for them to learn about nature while having fun.
The new joint venture would take care of all the requirements of Camp Mahackeno and also increase the intake of the campers. The schedule is under discussion between both the non-profit organizations and would be informed soon. The Summer Camp would also see the regular Fresh Air Fund providing scholarships to children who wish to attend the camp but find it financially difficult.
