April showers bring May flowers and when its rains in summer it calls for more fun and frolic. 3- Make bubbles in rain:
Soap bubbles probably are the coolest of all the activities. Even at my way past thirty status, these bubbles make me enticed. For a child these bubbles are not only amusing but they also involve a lot of learning. There is a whole lot of science behind these bubbles and their play. We all have our fond memories of chasing these mystic orbs and trying to burst them. Involve in the discoveries and subjective details with elasticity, surface tension, light and geometry behind these bubbles and see how inspiring these topics become.
4- Chalk fun:
All kids enjoy graffiti done by their chalks, infact, my little one has learnt more of alphabets and numbers by the graffiti in our front-yard than by writing in a copy. Rainy day calls for more wonderful activities. The already existing colors drawn days back form a rainbow stream and the new scribbles make even more thrilling colorful splashes. Make them more challenging by make the drawing stick without washing out.
5- Water Balloons:
What a sight? imagine throwing water balloons in your backyard and adding challenges of targets. This probably is more than just fun, for the spirited kids indulge in some real sports unwinding.
6- Home Made rain Gauge:
Imagine having your own fun little rain gauge and measuring the rain to inform everyone at home and family. This can be more learning based by marking the exact measure of water collected and proportionate to the readings. Add some more spirited fun by asking kids to check with news update on amount of rain.
Just take a bowl or bottle, mark readings and put it in a place where it rains without obstruction. Let your little one enjoy how the readings are marked and measured. A thorough enriching and fun-filled activity for a rainy day.
7- Rain jumping:
Grab your gumboots and put on your rain jackets for some drizzling jumping fun. Beware of the storms and keep check on the rain intensity. It is most loved and enjoyed in drizzling rain with lot of water puddles. Be sure to check the safety and health of your child before this particular activity.
8- Make Mud pies:
Wet damp mud calls for some artistic and creative muddy pies. Take a dish and add wet damp mud and decorate with leaves, stones and sprinkles. Let this be a more than fun activity with some more pretend baking plays. Even throw some beach toys and make mud castles in addition. Decorate and add some water colors, leave them in rain to see how the colors change and dilute also get washed away.
9- Obstacle course in rainy back-yard:
Form an obstacle course for sliding splashing challenges. Add your rain gear and umbrellas to tent up, slide down and make a splash. Slides, handy pools, mats and some more can be lines for relay sort of obstacle fun.
10- Nature exploration:
Indulge in some nature exploration. Make a brief of what and how, it develops in rainy season. From wild mushrooms, to wildflowers to insects and creepy crawly creatures. Some precautions and safety notes for rainy day fun outside:
1- Check the temperature and do not go out if under 70F
2- Keep an alert set for storms and tornado in your area and be sure to accompany your child most of the times.
3- For lightening and thunder alerts, bring your child in shade or indoors as this otherwise may cause severe impacts
4- Ensure proper gears in terms no-slip or aqua shoes or gumboots, do keep your hair in shower cap or swim cap as rain water is damaging for hair.
