Youth Forestry Camp

This summer, head to the Beaver’s Bend State Park for a season of  swimming, canoeing, new friends and all kinds of fun?

The Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) is hosting a one-of-a-kind of adventure camp in the forest this summer.

Themed around “Catching Fire”, in this camp, the  campers will learn hands-on about fire ecology and how fire affects the forest’s ecosystem.  Lessons on wildlife management, forestry management, stream ecology and fire management will be given by Natural resource professionals.

These professionals, who represent organizations such as Oklahoma Departments of Wildlife and State Parks, OSU Research Extension, Lower Mountain Fork River Foundation and Weyerhaeuser Company, will also discuss career opportunities with the teens.

In addition to this, campers can enjoy  recreational activities such as swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery and fishing in one of Oklahoma’s most spectacular places.

Youth Forestry Camp is meant for boys and girls aged 13 -15 years.  The registration fee is $175 and that includes all expenses related to lodging, meals, transportation at camp, field trips and workshops.

The last day of enrollment is May 16. Space is filling up for Oklahoma Forestry Services’ 58th Annual Youth Forestry Camp. So you better hurry!

The camp will be hosted in Beaver’s Bend State Park June 2 through 7. Teens are encouraged to register for this extraordinary outdoor experience at www.forestry.ok.gov/forestycamp For more information, you can also contact Jerí Irby at 405-522-6160 or jeri.irby@ag.ok.gov
