For young archaeologist in the making, Arizona State University’s Deer Valley Rock Art Center offers an action-packed summer camp. Meant for children aged between 8–12 years, this one-of-its kind of a camp will be held at a real archaeological site and desert nature preserve.
Here young campers will learn all about archeology, the Sonoran Desert, cultural anthropology, Southwestern peoples and sustainability through hands-on educational activities, archaeological fieldwork and demonstrations, art and science projects, nature hikes and cultural experiences.
ASU anthropologists and sustainability educators will join forces with local artists and indigenous experts to teach and counsel in this year’s camp. This year’s camp is being held in association with the ASU Global Institute of Sustainability.
Each camp sessions are limited to 20 children. To participate, parents must start registering without further ado. Scholarships are available for campers. To avail that and and further information on the same, please contact Casandra.Hernandez@asu.edu.
