Camp Black Mountain

Camp Black Mountain which was the ideal camp for boy scouts in the Maple Falls needs nearly $60,000 to revive the camp. A group of friends of the camp are trying to maintain the camp this summer.

However the executive board had decided in a meeting that the Summer Camp could be conducted only by depositing the said amount as security deposit, to safeguard the property from being spoiled by the camp.

The deadline set by the executive board of the Mount Baker Council of Boy Scouts of America that met in September was coming to an end on December 31. The main reasons behind the drastic step was due to a continuous loss incurred by the operations mounting to $ 50,000 for the Summer Camps.
According to reports only donations to the tune of $ 4,200 were collected till Dec 14, from 174 scouts registered for the event.
As per the website, `the Camp Black Mountain has served Western Washington since 1929 and the only other one maintained by the organizers is the Camp Fire Mountain in Ska git County.
