For over 100 years, the YMCA of Southern Arizona has held a good name for hosting some of Tucson’s largest and most respected summertime activities for kids. Even this year, the Y is back with a wad of Summer Day Camp programs designed to suit the interests of every kid.
The Kindergarten Summer Day Camp will prepare your child for the school setting, even while letting them have fun and learn through educational games, songs, and activities. Snacks and plenty of fun round out the day and guarantees a great summer experience.
The Themed Summer Day Camps are the most popular summer camp. Each week has its own “theme” like Safari, Xtreme Sports, and Ahoy Matey!-all packed with themed activities, crafts and games, treasure hunts, water-fun, sports of all sorts, and field trips.
The Specialty Camps offer a wide variety of camps such as Bowling, Golf, Skateboarding, Ultimate Sports, Basketball, and Softball.
For teenagers the Y offers Leaders-in-Training programs which is a great way for older kids to make new friends, learn leadership skills and have fun. Teens participate in volunteer opportunities, team building, group work, and career exploration field trips.
The Northwest Adventure Day Camp program is a non-traditional program which features traditional camp activities, horseback riding, archery, climbing tower, crafts, music, nature programs, sports, as well as use of the outdoor pool where campers can swim. This Day Camp provides an opportunity to enjoy the majority of the day outside exploring nature.
All of the Y camps promote a fun-filled summer where character counts and recognition for demonstrating honesty, respect, responsibility and caring are part of our daily recognition program.
