We hire about 60 – 70 Trip leaders every summer. The privilege of working in the teen adventure travel field is huge. Our employees get to live the dream! Bold Earth selects adult leaders who will carry on our solid, hard won reputation for excellence-leaders who are highly motivated role models with extensive experience working with teenagers. Our trip leaders are certified in the highest levels of wilderness first aid, CPR and lifeguard training. All trips include one male and one female trip leader who are at least 21 years old. Our average age is 26 years old with a return rate of more than 50 percent each summer. Our hiring process is competitive, resulting in what we believe to be the most professional, safe and experienced leaders in the industry. We conduct an in-depth interview, check references and do a background check of all potential trip leaders. Organizational skills, sense of humor, safety and an ability to teach teenagers about leadership and adventure travel, are the qualities we value most. On most international trips, we employ a local guide fluent in the local culture and language.
Since 1976, Bold Earth has been the leader in teen adventure travel and has welcomed over 13,000 students from 50 U.S. states and 50+ countries on adventure programs all over the world! Our mission is for each participant to enjoy a safe summer of enthusiasm, leadership, respect, playfulness, trust, responsibility and accomplishment. Spending a summer away from home and school offers students an incredible opportunity to gain independence while learning new skills and exploring the world outside their routine. To ensure a positive and cohesive group, Bold Earth campers are individually interviewed and two references are required.
