Founded in 1971, the Sheridan School Mountain Campus is one of the area’s most established outdoor and environmental education centers in the valley. Our campus is a 130-acre wilderness facility on the western boundary of the Shenandoah National Park. The camp is owned and operated by the Sheridan School in Washington, DC.

To promote learning, cooperation, responsibility, environmental awareness, community and resourcefulness through experiential education and adventure challenges. We accomplish this by providing a safe community in which participants are encouraged to deepen their understanding of each other, themselves, and their natural environment through problem solving, exploration, and communication.

We have 12-15 adult (over 21) program leaders and 15-20 teen leaders (15-18) I recruit my adult staff through Outdoor professional organizations like outdoored.com and American Camping Association as well as through colleges and universities with outdoor recreation degree programs. The majority of my teen leaders are returning campers.

[/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Why should parents send their kids to your camp?” tab_id=”1488805831034-03374034-f024″]

Parents should send their kids if they are looking for a smaller more personal camp experience where their child will be able to forge a sense of identity and confidence that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
The adventure and challenge met by campers gives them a sense of accomplishment and independence that is difficult, if not impossible, to replicate in any other setting.

[/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”When does your camp enrollment start and finish?” tab_id=”1489658294674-fc9ac9ed-d2ce”]

Enrollment begins at the end of summer and closes in May.
