Summer Arts Camp started about 25 years ago when we were at the old MAC and we would hold it at nearby elementary schools or Jr Highs. We took about a 3 year hiatus when we were getting ready to move to the new MAC and a couple years after we got here. Then we decided that we had enough space and could just hold the camp here.
At the Mesa Arts Center 1 East Main Street in downtown Mesa in the studio buildings.
Our camp philosophy is that all kids should be able to experience the arts in a safe environment with instructors who are trained or training in their field of expertise with a focus on process.
Our camp is a well-rounded visual and performing arts program.
We offer a wide variety of things but mainly, drama, dance, music, puppetry, visual arts and crafts as well as field trips and other activities that may come up.
Camps are usually week long. It is $180 for the full week and we also have a 4 day option in the summer with the cost being $144 for the 4 day week.
17-20 staff members including a couple volunteers. We recruit mostly in house by word of mouth or postings with the AZ Commission on the Arts, ASU and MCC.
We are a unique experience that will keep your child engaged and learning in a fun and creative manner.
We start enrollment the 1st Friday in December with our Winter registration and continue it up thru the beginning of the last week of camp.
