Camp was founded by Byron Dad Clark who was the General Secretary for the Burlington YMCA.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Where are you located?” tab_id=”1488799637923-90e6eeee-24b9″][vc_column_text]We are located on 89 acres in the town of North Hero, VT. We are on the southern tip of North Hero Island in Lake Champlain.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is your camp’s philosophy?” tab_id=”1488805562684-15743552-22ad”][vc_column_text]Camp Abnaki provides a traditional boys sleep away summer camp program, with an emphasis on character development, skill building and fun. Boys are provided with an experience designed to foster personal growth and independence. The friendships they make and memories they take away last a lifetime.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What activities do you offer?” tab_id=”1489147114089-cc047cc3-c1b2″][vc_column_text]We offer a variety of waterfront activities including: sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, fishing and row boats. Our land activities include soccer, skateboarding, tennis, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, baseball, arts and crafts, drama, dance, rock climbing, archery, and more. Situated in the middle of Lake Champlain, our sailing program is one of our strengths. The natural resources we have available and the variety of boats we have offer any sailor a chance to be challenged, have fun, and learn new skills.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What are the typical session lengths and approximate pricing for your camp?” tab_id=”1488805694385-c9eb90d8-8e19″][vc_column_text]We have two one week sessions and three two week sessions. A one week session will cost around $650 and a two week session will cost $1,100. Enrollment begins Novemeber 1 for the next summer. Sessions will begin to fill up in March. Our capacity is 142 campers a session. This includes 40 cabin counselors and 25 additional administrative/program, or support staff. We recruit the majority of our staff through our Counselor in Training Program. Boys can spend quality time with male role models who model cooperation, compassion, and empathy. Young boys learn that being masculine can mean you are sensitive, supportive, and respectful.
